menu workshops -- sacrae singing ceremonies -- about us contact us -- sacrae singing songs for the heart and soul -- the work that reconnects workshops based on the work of joanna macy, as described in her book "coming back to life". find your energy to bring about social or environmental change, while connecting with others and enjoying time out in nature. next workshops facilitation are your meetings quite hard-going? would you like some help keeping them on track? i can come and facilitate meetings or events, or provide advice on how to make them more productive. ceremonies sometimes it's important to mark transitions in our lives. we can work together to create a ceremony to mark the change, to help you and others move forward to new beginnings. -- sacrae singing group we are a community singing group in cambridge, uk, and we sing sacred music from around the world and from different spiritual traditions. we sing short easy songs with beautiful harmonies, and we choose songs that are easy to learn and that nourish the heart and song. the songs are mostly contemplative, meditative and reflective. no singing experience is necessary, and we teach the songs by ear. we invite you to join us! we usually meet on the first and third sundays of each month, mostly at romsey mill but occasionally at ross street community centre (both close to mill road in cambridge) - details below. the sessions are free, with a suggested donation of £3 to £5 to cover the cost of room hire. the group is a drop-in group, so it is fine to come just when you can. the group is led by anna mcivor and helen east. none of us are professional singers or teachers - we just love singing this kind of music! events coming up our first singing session this year is on sunday 7th january, 2-3:30pm at romsey mill . we'll sing a mix of songs from different traditions, followed by tea. amongst other songs, we'll be singing ubi caritas, a favourite from taize, and the lovely "thy light is in all forms" from the sufi tradition. we hope to meet on the 1st and 3rd sundays of the month throughout the year, always starting at 2pm. the venues are as follows: 21 january - ross street community centre (approx 5 mins walk from romsey mill) 4 february - romsey mill 18 february - ross street community centre (approx 5 mins walk from romsey mill) 4 march - romsey mill 18 march - romsey mill 1 april - romsey mill - easter day - we'll sing mostly taize songs 15 april - romsey mill follow us on facebook! sacrae singing facebook page please get in touch using the form below if you have any questions or would like to know more. saturday 29 - sunday 30 april: building community - a weekend workshop facilitated by anna mcivor and katherine dixon during this weekend workshop on "building community", we'll explore what it means to build community, how to go about it, what skills we need and what experience we each already bring. the workshop will be mostly experiential, as we explore our own experiences of being in community, what we've learnt, and start to think about what communities we'd like to build in future. we'll spend some time looking at what challenges us about being in community, and how we can develop the skills that we need to face those challenges. we'll also spend time out in nature, learning from the natural communities which are all around us. we'll work together as a community to make our meals, build a fire, and do the other tasks which are necessary over the weekend. and on saturday evening we'll celebrate community with a big meal and fire. dates and times: saturday 29 and 30 april, 9:30am to 5:30pm, with a community celebration on saturday evening (going on until 10ish, but obviously it is optional how late you choose to stay) location: cambridge sustainability centre, fen end farm, oxholme drove, smithy fen, cottenham, cambridgeshire, cb24 8up ( more info here, scroll down this page for directions and map here ). it is possible to cycle or take the bus and walk (it takes approx 25 minutes to walk to the farm from the citi 8 bus stop at the far end of cottenham). there is parking for vehicles on-site. booking: please book using the form below, sending your name, phone number, address, whether you'd like to camp on saturday night, and any dietary requirements or other needs. we will send details about how to pay. cost: this workshop is being offered on a voluntary basis, with a suggested donation of £40-50 to cover our costs. meals: all meals will be vegetarian, and the weekend will be alcohol and drug free. staying on site: it is possible to camp on-site either on saturday night or from friday to monday (it's a bank holiday weekend). to stay in a small tent on saturday night (cost £10), please just include this in your booking e-mail and we will get back to you to confirm this (please note that camping spaces are almost booked up). if you'd like to take advantage of the glamping options (yurt/gypsy wagon/bell tent), please book via the fen end farm web-site . these are only available friday to monday, i.e. 3 nights minimum stay. bringing your family: if you'd like to come with your family, they will be welcome; while you attend the workshop sessions, the rest of your family can explore the surrounding area, and then they can join us at mealtimes and for the celebration on saturday night (unfortunately it will not be possible to have children with us during the workshop sessions). download poster here if you know of places to put one up - thank you! please get in touch using the form below if you have any questions or would like to know more. -- about us anna mcivor has loved singing for many years, and has visited various communities with a tradition of singing, including taize, findhorn and plum village. she now regularly goes to voice camp, and has been leading the sacrae singing group since january 2017. she also facilitates occasional "the work that reconnects" workshops, which she has been doing since 2006, after attending workshops with joanna macy and chris johnstone. she is an experienced facilitator, having organised and facilitated a wide variety of meetings and workshops for transition cambridge over many years, and has been facilitating buddhist meditation sessions with the community of interbeing since 1999. she has a phd in ecology and has worked on academic projects relating to ecosystem services and flood risk reduction. she is currently training to be a therapist at the centre for counselling and pyschotherapy education in london. get in touch!
